Samsung Hello could be a Google Feed-like service on the Galaxy S8

Samsung's Galaxy S8 is one of the most anticipated smartphones of 2017, and we're inching closer and closer to the device's incoming announcement. We're expecting a lot from the phone, including a Snapdragon 835 processor, pressure sensitive display not unlike 3D Touch on the iPhone, water-resistance, and some sort of crazy bezel-less display. Along with all of this, another standout feature for the Galaxy S8 is expected to be Samsung's Bixby artificial intelligence that will compete with the likes of Google Assistant, Siri, and Alexa. Another personal assistant may sound like either a pro or a con depending on your outlook on AI, but Samsung recently filed for a new trademark that could give Bixby the upper-hand over some its competition.

The trademark, dubbed Samsung Hello, was filed over in Europe's Intellectual Prop erty Office, and it states that Samsung Hello is a type of, "software that enables block users or computers and mobile devices to access, aggregate, organize and interact with content, information and images and topics of general interest to such users." Furthermore, the trademark also reveals that Samsung Hello will include, "application software that gives personalized features and information based on user's preferences in the fields of weather, music, entertainment, games, travel, science, health, contact, and social news via voice command and voice recognition."

That sounds great and all, but what does it actually mean? Based off of what we know from the patent so far, Samsung Hello sounds a whole lot like the Google Feed (formerly known as Google Now). Google's combination of both the Google Assistant and Google Feed works incredibly well for both verbal and written information when you need it, and although Samsung Hello doesn't directly mention Bixby in the tra demark filing, we've got a feeling that Samsung will try to connect the two in some form.

Having an AI that can provide you with verbal info when your want it and data on your screen when you ask for the weather, upcoming calendar appointments, and more sounds like something that Samsung is vying for with Bixby and Hello, and although we won't know for sure until the Galaxy S8 is officially announced, thankfully we won't have to wait too much longer with the S8 set to be unveiled by Samsung on March 29th.
