A huge spike in Rainbow Six Siege servers problems started to come in around an hour ago, Ubisoft have already had to perform emergency maintenance once today.
"We will be applying a new script to better manage server load at peak times," the Rainbow Six Siege team confirmed on Twitter earlier today.
"In an effort to provide our players with the best possible online experience, we will be running a new script to better handle the increased load during peak times.
"As a result, some players may see the following error when logging in: "Cannot connect to Ubisoft Servers".
"We want to thank you for your patience as we work to better manage the unprecedented number of players attempting to play."
However, issues of connecting to Rainbow Six Siege on PS4 are still be encoun tered by fans.
"We need to get R6 credits for the servers issue we been having since the free weekend, we can't even enjoy the game anymore," One user wrote.
There has been no confirmation on what might be causing today's problems, although it's likely a combination of players scrambling to update their games and then try and play the new content that was recently added.
Operation Velvet Shell added two new Operators named Jackal and Mira, as well as the new Coastline map set in Ibiza.
The content is free to season pass owners from today, and will be available to buy using real money or in-game currency from next week for everybody else.
The bumper new update also makes a ton of gameplay tweaks and fixes, and adds new weapon skins, a personalised play button and much more.
Fans can also look forward to four new Velvet Shell Signature weapon skins being added this week, including the Chupinazo, El Dorado, León Furioso and Crossfader, which offer some vibrant new designs inspired by the colors of the Spanish shores.
A new dynamic navigation interface for Rainbow Six Siege is also being introduced. This mandate originated from ample reflection on ways to improve player comfort after a year of live content.
