Samsung Galaxy S8 pre-orders to begin April 19, 12pm onwards on Flipkart - India Today


The much awaited Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ are going to be launched in India tomorrow. Ahead of the launch, Flipkart had already put up banners on the site announcing that pre-orders for the two smartphones will begin on April 19 at 12 noon.

The smartphones, which have captured the imaginations of the world with their 'Infinity Display' and radical bezel-less design are to be sold exclusively online via Flipkart. The actual Indian retail price of the two devices is unknown at the moment and will be unveiled at tomorrow's event.

Pre-orders for the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ have surpassed all records in Samsung's home country of South Korea with more than 720,00 units of the smartphones getting booked in just a few days.

Samsung revealed a few days ago that the Galaxy S8 and S8+ are proving to be way more popular than last year's Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge. Within just a few weeks of the pre-orders going live, Samsung recorded a "double-digit growth" over Samsung's Galaxy S7.

The Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 + aim to distinguish themselves from the crowd on the basis of their design prowess. They come with a radical bezel-less design with an 'Infinity display' that covers almost the entire front panel of the device.

The devices are powered by the Snapdragon 835 processor in the U.S and Samsung's own 3GHz Exynos 8895 processor in other regions including India alongside 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage expandable via a microSD card (up to 256GB).

On the imaging front, the handsets feature a 12MP 'Dual Pixel' camera at the rear with an aperture of f/1.7 and laser auto-focus alongside an 8MP front facing camera wit h an aperture of f/1.7.

The Galaxy S8 comes with a 3,000mAh battery and a WQHD+ 5.8-inch display and the Galaxy S8+ comes with a WQHD+ 6.2-inch display and a bigger 3,500mAh battery. Both smartphones feature fast charging and wireless charging.

Lastly, both smartphones come with facial recognition support, an Iris scanner, Samsung Knox, IP68 dust and water resistance, Samsung Pay and earphones tuned by AKG.
