Renault introduces Kwid Climber in manual and AMT versions - Times of India


NEW DELHI: French automaker Renault introduced Kwid Climber - a variant of its popular small hatchback - in India at an introductory price of Rs 4.3 lakh (ex showroom, Delhi).

First showcased at the Indian Auto Expo 2016, the Kwid Climber is powered by a 1.0-litre SCe (Smart Control efficiency) engine which promises better road performance. The car is also offered in a five-speed AMT version - called Easy-R Gear Box. The AMT version claims to return a mileage of 24.04kmpl while the manual version promises to run 23.01 kms with each litre of petrol.

Designed and developed at the company's design studios in Chennai and Mumbai, the SUV-inspired Kwid Climber incorporates several design elements like bumper overrriders, front and rear terrain protectors with orange accents, two tone arching roof bars, side-door protection cladding and a higher ground clearance than the original model.

Giving credit of the success of Renault Kwid to the path shown by Tata, Renault Nissan alliance Chairman and CEO Carlos Ghosn said: "We followed and I am glad we followed the Nano because the success of Renault today in India is mainly based on the success of the Kwid."

The interiors too have undergone changes and the Kwid Climber features orange upholstry, orange accents on on the AC vents and on the centre fascia, a two-tone orange gear knob and decorative orange door trim accents.



In terms of safety, the Kwid Climber features a driver airbag and first-in-class pro-sense seat belts - pre-tensioners with load limiters.
