Reliance Jio Prime subscription is technically free: Here is how

Meanwhile, Jio also recently clashed with Airtel after Ookla awarded the latter as 'India's Fastest Mobile Network'.

There is just over a week left for you to subscribe to Reliance Jio Prime membership and you can technically do it for free. If you are not aware, Reliance Jio announced its Jio Prime membership last month wherein users can continue enjoying all the benefits under the Happy New Year offer by paying a subscription fee of Rs 99 and Rs 303 thereafter starting April 1st, 2017. To recall the benefits from the Happy New Year offer, you will get free unlimited calls and SMS across all the networks along with 1GB 4G LTE data per day. Further, Reliance Jio also claims that Jio Prime users will get a bunch of other benefits including extra data value for the same price. However, if you are looking to subscribe to the Jio Prime membership, here is a nifty little trick to save on the subscription fee.

Reliance Jio last week introduced a special offer where one can get Rs 50 cashback on every recharge (for a Jio number) done from the Jio Money Wallet app. As per the offer, if you subscribe to Jio Prime membership through Jio Money wallet app, you get Rs 50 cashback. Thereafter, if you recharge your Jio number for Rs 303 or above to continue enjoy the Happy New Year offer, you again get Rs 50 cashback which in total sums up to Rs 100. In other words, you actually paid only Rs 302 in total for subscribing as well as recharging your first monthly plan for your Jio SIM. However, note that the cashback will be available as Jio Vouchers in Jio Money app. Other than Jio Money wallet, you can also get the recharge done from Paytm or Mobikwik but you will not be able to get Rs 100 (in total) cash back in that case.

Meanwhile, Jio also recently clashed with Airtel after Ookla awarded the latter as 'India's Fastest Mobile Network'. Reliance Jio claimed that Ookla's reward to Airtel was rather a paid affair rather than based on tests. However, soon after Ookla and Bharti Airtel came up with its own statements justifying the award.
