Microsoft expands Cortana functionality on Android lock screens

Since Cortana made its way to Android devices, users have been asking for many new features and improvements. According to Microsoft, the ability to interact with Cortana directly from the lock screen was among the most requested features.

After adding the ability to get Cortana on the lock screen earlier this month, so users could swipe and see what's got for them for the day, Microsoft announced that interaction with Cortana above the lock is now possible.

Cortana users will now be able to get answers to their questions, set a reminder and more without having to unlock their Android devices. There are new features included in the latest Cortana update as well, which are meant to provide users with more glanceable info about what's upcoming during the day.

For example, all the lists that you use in Cortana are now easier to access so that you can view, add and edit items much faster than before.

At the same time, Microsoft announced that it's making both the Android and iOS apps available in Australia, which should provide users with extended functionality of their Cortana on Windows 10 to whatever smartphone th ey use.

Keep in mind that the new features introduced today have only been released in select markets where Cortana is available to use.
