New Honda City 2017 expected price in India as against competition - On Cars India


Come the 14th of this month and we are going to witness the launch of the 2017 Honda City facelift in India. The Japanese automaker has already launched the same in Thailand and has at multiple occasions teased the sedan in India as well. Most of the changes with which this car has to arrive in the country are known to us already and we are quite thrilled about them as well. What are still unknown are the prices at which this facelifted model is to be retailed at, though we still have a likely assumption. So here we compare the expected prices of the new Honda City facelift 2017 with that of its rivals to see how it scores as against is competition. 

The New Honda City 2017's base petrol derivative is expected to be priced at INR 7.5 lakh with the top of the line variants expected to be priced at INR 12.05 lakh. The base diesel trim of the sedan is likely to retail at a price of INR 9.30 lakh with the top of the line model retailing at INR 12.50 lakh (ex-showroom). 

City's current biggest rival, the Maruti Ciaz's base petrol trim retails at INR 7.53 lakh with the top of the line model retailing at INR 10.52 lakh. Coming to the diesel variant, the base trim costs INR 7.73 lakh to own with the top of the line model retailing at INR 9.56 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).  

City's second biggest rival, the current generation Hyundai Verna's base petrol variant retails at INR 7.88 lakh while the top of the line trim costs INR 10.84 lakh. Coming to the diesel derivative, the base version of the Verna retails at INR 9.15 lakh with the prices going up to INR 13.09 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the top of the line version. 

Skoda's all new Rapid comes at a petrol base price of INR 8.19 lakh with the top of the line version costing INR 11.46 lakh to own. Rapid's base diesel version retails at INR 9.39 lakh with the top of the line version priced at INR 12.55 (ex-showroom, Delhi).

Rapid's cousin, the Volkswagen Vento's base petrol variant is priced at INR 7.85 lakh with the top of the line version retailing at INR 10.62 lakh. The base diesel variant however retails at INR 9.20 lakh with the top of the line version retailing at INR 11.64 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). 

The Renault Scala's sole petrol trim retails at INR 8.20 lakh with the diesel version costing at INR 9.30 lakh for the base version with the top of the line version retailing at INR 9.72 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). 

The final pick of the lot, the Nissan Sunny, retails at a base petrol price of INR 6.71lakh with the top of the line petrol version retailing 9.29 lakh. The base diesel variant of the Nissan Sunny retails at 9.00 lakh while the top of the line version costing INR 10.45 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai) to own.
