Until then, let's take an in-depth look at some of the specs and features it will pack inside, as reported by The Guardian. The information from sources with knowledge about Samsung plans, so it's as reliable as it gets.
First of all, the report suggests Samsung will launch two Galaxy S8 models with displays in the 5-inch to 6-inch region. Both of them will feature dual-edge curved display, just like the Galaxy S7 edge.
Moreover, they will be similar in size with their Galaxy S7 counterparts, but they will boast slightly larger displays. Due to the bezel-less design, sources say no room will remain for Samsung to add its logo or any other brand on the front of the phone.
The so-called "infinity display" is said to cover most of the front part of the phone. The top and bottom bezels will be incredibly small as well, which is why a logo might not be included on the front side.< /p>
Moving on to the hardware inside the Galaxy S8, Samsung will include the same iris scanner with biometric technology that was part of the Galaxy Note 7. The fingerprint sensor has been moved to the back of the phone, though previous rumors suggests Samsung will put it under the display.
As expected, Samsung won't go for the dual-camera setup. The Galaxy S8 will feature the same "duo pixel" camera that's been introduced with the last year's flagship.
However, the new camera will bring some enhancements to image quality, low-light performance and speed. Some sort of object recognition feature similar to Google Goggles will be added to the camera too.
The phone will be equipped with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 835 processor and it will pack 64GB of internal memory, expandable up to 256GB via microSD card. The Galaxy S8 won't ditch the 3.5mm audio jack, but an USB Type-C port will be available as well.
In the software department, Samsung will include its own digital personal assistant, but the sources couldn't confirm the name of the AI. It's said that the AI assistant will be able to perform various tasks including object recognition through the phone's camera. On top of that, Samsung has signed multiple agreements with third parties to include data sources for the AI assistant.
Last but not least, Samsung will announce a couple of interesting accessories for the Galaxy S8, including a dock that will turn the smartphone into an Android desktop computer. A related service will be launched as well.
The new dock and service launched by Samsung will allow Galaxy S8 users to connect their phones to a monitor, keyboard and other peripherals. It will work in the same way as Microsoft's Continuum, and it will be called DeX.
While an exact release date hasn't been confirmed yet, sources claim Samsung will make the Galaxy S8 available for purchase on or around April 21.
