A regional subsidiary of Samsung did take some worry off the minds of some Galaxy S7 edge owners by announcing today that the vertical pink line issue is covered by the manufacturer's warranty. The one caveat is that any phone turned in to Samsung for a covered repair, must not exhibit any sign that the handset has suffered some physical damage. The comment came from Samsung Benelux (BElgium/NEtherlands/LUXembourg). Samsung said that even if a Galaxy S7 edge screen wasn't cracked, the phone would have had to drop for the pink line to appear. Many writing about the issue in online forums claim that their phone shows the pink line even though they never dropped the device or exposed it to liquids. Samsung Benelux suggests that Galaxy S7 edge users purchase and use a case for the phone.
It isn't clear whether the comments made by Samsung Benelux apply to Galaxy S7 edge units purchased in that region only. It is possible that the warranty will be honored fo r the screen across all Samsung subsidiaries.
