OnePlus 5 name confirmed, Oxygen OS 4.1.3 arrives for OnePlus 3T - India Today

While rumours have already indicated that the successor to the OnePlus 3T will be called the OnePlus 5, a new report has all but confirmed it as a fact. A OnePlus smartphone with the model number A5000 has just been spotted on China's Radio Regulation Authority's database.

The OnePlus 3 had the model number A3000 and the OnePlus 3T had the model number A3010. Thus, going by the company's naming standards, a model number of A5000 clearly points towards the name OnePlus 5. The name OnePlus 4 is being skipped due to the fact that the number 4 in Chinese is considered bad luck  as it sounds like the Mandarin Chinese word for death.

Name aside, the OnePlus 5 is said to be quite a comprehensive update over its predecessor. Previous rumours point towards the device coming with a mammoth 8GB of RAM, the Snapdragon 835 SoC, the Adreno 540 GPU, upto 256GB of internal storage and a 3,000mAh battery.

Additionally, the device is expected to sport a QuadHD display, a bezel-less design like the one found on the LG G6 and Samsung Galaxy S8 and a dual camera setup at the back. The device is rumoured to launch in the second half of the year for under 500 dollars.

Oxygen OS 4.1.3 rolling out for OnePlus 3/3T

There is good news for existing OnePlus 3 and 3T owners as well. OnePlus has begun the roll out of the Oxygen OS 4.1.3 update which brings with it a host of bug fixes and improvements such as a fix for the Instagram swiping bug and a fix for hardware button malfunction s.

The update comes hot on the heels of the Oxygen OS 4.1.0 update which brought Android 7.1.1 to both the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T. The update included several bug fixes and new features such as improved Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, expanded screenshots and blur reduction while shooting pictures.

The Oxygen OS 4.1.3 will be rolled out in a phased manner. If you don't get the OTA update right away, don't worry as it may take a few days to reach your smartphone. You can also check for updates manually if you do not want to wait for the OTA notification.
