Xiaomi Mi 6 sans front home button leaks in live renders - India Today

Xiaomi's next-flagship phone, the alleged Mi 6, has been spotted online one more time showing off the phone's front panel. Interestingly, the phone as per the new leak is in sharp contradiction to previous leaks. The phone now appears to be flatter, and comes sans any physical home button on the front.

Since the phone in question does not carry a Mi branding of any kind up top, it is a little hard to believe the authenticity of the images. The phone seems to be running Xiaomi's MIUI but, that isn't reason enough to believe that it's a Xiaomi phone.

Since, Xiaomi will not be attending the MWC this year, its flagship Mi 6 phone will have to wait for a different stage altogether. The company may pre-pone it or decide to launch it later, we do not know for sure. It's not happening at the MWC, though. To recall, Xiaomi took last year's MWC event to announce its current-generation flagship Mi 5 phone. This was in line with the then company vice president Hugo Barra's push for Xiaomi to come out from the hallowed grounds of China and reach out to the West. The company, also, took to CES this year to showcase a few products for the global audience.

In a sudden turn of events, however, Hugo has left the company citing health issues and homesickness. He has joined Facebook to lead its Oculus VR team.

As for the Mi 6, there are already rumours that Xiaomi may be working on as many as three different versions, with two of them based on Qualcomm's new Snapdragon 835 chipset and another based on MediaTek's Helio X30. The top-end version will reportedly have a dual-curve design on the lines of a Mi Note 2.
