Samsung will have something to say about the Galaxy S8 at MWC - India Today

Samsung will have something to say about its next batch of Galaxy S phones at the upcoming MWC event in February after all. The company will have some sort of presence at MWC this year only it looks all set to break from tradition of launching a new Galaxy S flagship. Samsung chief, Dong-jin Koh will announce the exact date of launch of the Galaxy S8 (and the Galaxy S8 Plus) phones at the event, according to a new report .

Rumour has it that the company might launch the Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy S8 Plus phones at an event in New York City on March 29. The phones might go on sale sometime in mid-April, it is said. Samsung is of course yet to make a formal announcement regarding the same.

Additionally, Samsung might also take MWC as an opportunity to show-off a teaser of its next flagship phones, in a bid to gauge media and consumer interest. The Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy S8 Plus will, undoubtedly, have a hard time winning them back, after the recent Galaxy Note 7 debacle. The phones will have to prove that Samsung can still deliver safe products after everything that ensued in the aftermath.

The support page for Samsung's next flagship - the S8 Plus - recently went live ahead of its purported March 29 unveiling -- via Samsung India -- suggesting it would carry a model number SM-G955FD.

The Galaxy S8 Plus, which is expected to replace Samsung's Galaxy S7 Edge will reportedly be a 6.2-inch phablet. Its dimensions would however be such that it would seem a lot more compact than what its paper specs would seem to indicate. The phone would likely feature a curved QHD Super-AMOLED display and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835/ Exynos 8895 processor under the hood. RAM is expected to be 4GB, however, the possibility of a 6GB RAM variant (also) can't be ruled out.
