Samsung Exynos 9 Series SoC to Launch Soon; May Debut on Galaxy S8 - NDTV

It turns out that Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 835 SoC may not be the only chipset powering the upcoming Galaxy S8 flagship. Samsung has just put out its first teaser for the Exynos 9 Series SoC which may mean that the Galaxy S8 will be also powered by the latest in-house chipset - or at least, one variant of the smartphone will be powered by the Exynos processor.

The official Twitter handle of Samsung Exynos tweeted, "Be ready for The Next Exynos." The tweet was also accompanied by an image that said "Discover Cloud 9 with Exynos." We already know Qualcomm's latest SoC is built on the 10nm FinFET fabrication process by Samsung, and if the rumour is true, will be competing with the company's Exynos chipset series.

Based on rumours so far, Samsung's Galaxy S8 flagship is expected to be unveiled late next month and is widely rumoured to hit market shelves on April 14 - in South Korea at least . We can expect the Galaxy S8 powered by the latest Exynos 9 to debut in the company's homeland, South Korea in April while the Snapdragon 835-powered Samsung Galaxy S8 may go on sale in other parts of the world later. For those unaware, Samsung has nearly always launched its Galaxy S-series smartphones with Exynos chipset in India.

To recall, Samsung's last Galaxy S7 flagship as well as Galaxy Note 7 were launched with octa-core Exynos 8890 chipset which was built on the 14nm FinFET fabrication process.

Based on leaks so far, it has been widely expected that Samsung has first dibs of the Snapdragon 835 which has been seen as one of the reasons why compet itors are forced to choose an old chipset or delay the launch.

Samsung's Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ smartphones have been making rounds on the Internet and are believed to be unveiled at simultaneous launch events expected to be held in the US and Europe on March 29.
