No physical home button in Xiaomi Mi 5C, reveals leaked image

Xiaomi Mi 5C will be featuring in-house octa-core Pine Cone processor.

Xiaomi is expected to announce the Xiaomi Mi 5C early next month in March. Recently, we have come across many leaks and rumors of the Xiaomi Mi 5C. Now again an image of the device has surfaced online which reveals its new design.

The new leaked image has been posted by a user @strong machine on Chinese microblogging website, Weibo.  As per the leakster, the image comes straight from a Foxconn factory. The image shows that the absence of physical home button on the front panel of the device. Furthermore, the front camera position is located on the left instead of right as seen in other Xiaomi smartphones.

The absence of physical home button on the front, however contradicts of the images of Mi 5C which leaked earlier. The earlier leaked image of Xiaomi Mi 6 on the Weibo showed a rear camera with dual tone LED flash on the top left corner, a front camera and a physical home button on the front which can double as a fingerprint sensor.  You can see the earlier leaked image below.

As we already know that the Xiaomi Mi 5C will be featuring in-house octa-core Pine Cone processor. Xiaomi's Pinecone processor details recently surfaced online. This smartphone may the first device from Xiaomi's stable to sport an in-house Pine Cone processor. The processor will be developed by Xiaomi-owned Pine Cone Electronics.

Xiaomi is working on two Pinecone SoC chips with model numbers V670 and V970. The V670 is said to use four Cortex A-53 and four A-53 octa-core architecture with a clock speed of 800MHz and Mali T860 MP4 GPU. Furthermore, the V670 chipset is also said to be using a 28nm manufacturing process.

On the other hand, the V970 will use four Cortex-A73 cores and four Cortex-A53 octa-core architecture with a clock speed of 900MHz and Mali G71 MP12 GPU. The processor will have a minimum clock frequency of up to 2.0GHz and a maximum clock speed of 2.7GHz. The V670 is manufactured using a 10nm process and is expected to come only in the fourth quarter of this year.

Out of these two processors, the Xiaomi Mi 5C will reportedly launch with the lower V670 variant. In terms o f performance, V670 is expected to be equivalent to Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor.

As per earlier leaks, the Xioami 5C will have a 5.5-inch display with narrow bezels to be powered by a 2.2 GHz octa-core processor. There could be two different variants of the smartphone, one with a Snapdragon processor, and another with the in-house Pinecone chipsets. It will come with 3GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, 12-megapixel primary camera and an 8-megapixel front-facing camera. The phone is expected to run on will run on Android Marshmallow operating system with MIUI 8 on top and has a 3,200mAh battery. The Xiaomi Mi 5C is rumored to be priced around 1499 Yuan which is approximately Rs 14,623.
