Ignis is the safest Maruti in its segment in India - On Cars India


Apart from offering a number of segment first features upon its launch, the Maruti Suzuki Ignis is ahead of its rivals in yet another and rather important aspect, which is of safety.

From the month of October this year, according to the Bharat new Vehicle Safety Assessment Program, every car in India has to meet the advanced safety regulations. Under these, the cars should pass through full frontal impact, offset frontal impact and side impact crash tests.

The Ignis was crash tested at Maruti's in house testing facility based out of Rohtak Haryana where over 35 to 40 different tests were conducted on each model and variants before a set safety rating was provided to the vehicle.

The Ignis, uses Suzuki's advanced TECT body which has been developed to offer higher levels of safety while at the same time keeping its weight low as well. The same has also been used on the currently on sale Baleno. Also Read: Maruti Suzuki Ignis – All you need to know

However, it is not just the Ignis in Maruti's stable that meets these advanced safety regulations well ahead of time. The automaker's other products like the Vitara Brezza, Ciaz, Baleno and S-Cross too comply with full frontal, offset frontal and side-impact crash tests.

Talking about Maruti's vehicle testing facility, the same is to seen an investment of INR 3,800 Cr from the automaker. This facility, apart from housing a fully functional crash lab, also accommodates amenities which are to help Maruti develop a vehicle right from its concept form down to the production ready model.
